 I woke up and decided it may be necessary to actually speak about issues that have gone on for so long and that I usually avoided because I hate conflict and I find that when people know that you do, they are very disrespectful and unkind so they can run you off. 

The issues continue to fester though because the nature of truth is such that it lasts and lasts.

To be a Vet in Nigeria is to attend any of the 10 (?) Veterinary schools in Nigeria and after a period of 6 (+x) years, to obtain the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM). I do not think any of the Nigerian Universities grant the other types of Veterinary degrees (ie BVSc and such like). So on this fundamental one, everyone agrees.

Higher education can take different modes depending on what you decide to study. Some are MSc, some are MVSc, and some are MPH, and such like. Again, usually, there is no issue regarding this until recently when one or more persons decided to flip degrees. More on this later.

Then even further study can be acquired in this field by obtaining a PhD. This is usually the route for people who are in academia or wish to further interrogate their knowledge. Reason being the methodology of thought is tested and by seminar and oral exam, the candidate is found to have accomplished independent and rigorous endeavour to be able to accomplish what is required in teaching. 

The other track is the Fellowship of the Vet Surgeons which is for a demonstrable competence in what you have learned which allows you to exhibit said competence and become a Consultant in your particular area of specialty. 

I am truly trying to stay on what I need to say in this post without devolving into issues that I do not want to get entangled in the shenanigans that embittered people have used to run their agenda for a while now. 

As Universities, there are guiding rules for every level of work, promotion and general activities. Issues arise when these rules are suspended for whatever reason and herein lay the genesis of this wahala.

When asked to attain certain qualifications and they could not and they chose to battle the authority until time passed and they were (by reason of kindness and help), allowed to be promoted outside laid down regulations. 

At the time, it was clearly stated that this would not be a precedent (lol). It was later declared a precedent because some people needed to then show how powerful they were and found willing tools in the weak authority figure at that time. What should not have happened did and it seemed that it had now become an established route for people who were unwilling (or unable) to do what was required to be what they desired to be. For some, it was the fact that they had always gotten away with wrongdoing and knew how to make the system do what they felt they were entitled to by any means necessary. 

Time came and a Sheriff came to town who attempted to do things the way they should be done and that was when things devolved and insults and unbelievable untruths became the order of the day and things became magnified to the point where some accuse others of not celebrating the Fellowship program. If a person says promotion on academic track should not be by Fellowship, it does not immediately translate to the fact that Fellowship is not good (especially when even said individual possesses said Fellowship). But what I have learned from all of this is that when people know that what they are attempting to do is wrong, they will paint everyone who could stand in their path (doing right) with any type of brush just to get their way. 

How one or two or three persons becomes the new standard for an entire profession is truly beyond me. I am aware that victory has been gained. Why not revel in said victory? Except it is clear to you that you have not really won. 

I am glad we are again at a point where we are discussing what is right and what is not and people will say whatever they wish to make their point (as I am). 

One thing that can never be killed though is truth. 

When it is time, the truth will prevail. As it always does. 

the fact that some people repeat something for so long will never make falsehood transmute to become truth and the fact that a horde believe untruth will never make it become the truth.
