David is a simple guy, he tries, works hard, does all he should and expects no thanks or recognition.
He is fine with that cos he knows he is favored to be alive and be so blessed.
He was picked, the youngest of many and so by being picked he was already highly favored.
His skills were useful for deliverance and even that felt like a favor.
He served as he felt called to and he never even took that for granted cos he realises that there are many who have better skills and cant use them.
He became king and at that point, could have died happy.
He suffered from pain at doing wrong and enjoyed God's mercy, again and again probably becos of his childlike belief in God's ability to save him from himself.
Then he had his mind blown by God one last time.
Undeserved and never before seen covenant.
You will never lack a man.........
