#OCCUPYNIGERIA?

1st of January, unsuspecting Nigerians are hit right between the eyes with the removal of fuel subsidy! What?! We had a fuel subsidy? Apparently, the fuel that is being sold in Nigeria is subsidized. Reason being, after we produce crude oil, we are unable to refine it and so we sell the crude at rock bottom prices and buy the refined petroleum products at exhorbitant prices and becos the government is very caring and sympathetic, it subsidizes this process and attempts to make the life of the ordinary Nigerian easier while enriching cronies and loyalists to the ruling party. That is the truth! What is difficult to grasp in that? Its also how Nigerians got a rude introduction to the correct spelling of s-u-b-s-i-d-y.

Well, what Aunty Ngor sold GEJ is, government cannot afford to be so sympathetic that it continues to pity the people just becos they are soft and unable to under go hardship, its time for them to be aware of how life truly is! She conveniently left out the part where government and governance is about using the resources of the entire nation for the benefit of all its people. And she skimped over the part where the government, along with priviledges of office, carries a responsibility to assess, evaluate, critically reason, and be responsible for positive change as defined by the people of said nation. That is part of what ensures the sovereignty of a nation and preservation of a democracy, I believe. She was economical with the truth of the rot that is evident (for reasons best known to her) and decided to pander to the needs of an already over-bloated, evidently corrupt and severely deluded and disconnected-with-reality government becos, she is one of them. Them, who think something guarantees their right to be in control of Nigeria's resources! Or who have a secret so sinister, they cant reason like normal people....

Now what is fact is Nigeria has been unable to garner enough political will to wrest itself from a wicked and unfeeling political ruling class. Since independence and I daresay from before then, the Nigerian in rulership has been that one who was unable to endure  hardship in the short-term for the greater good of the nation. So, essentially, those ones who felt it was okay to do 'boyboy' for the white man and get a few crumbs and come out from a meeting and sound very intelligent after chopping and cleaning mouth and pocketing the largesse  received for selling out their people became the ruling class ( I am entitled to my opinion, and but for very few who shall at this time remain nameless,no apologies to anyone!).

This ruling class had encouraged the pillaging and rape of this nation in instalments to the point where their indiscriminate feeding off the goose that lays the golden egg was threatening to snuff out the life of the said goose. But we all know that decay and rot do not show up in one, two or even ten days. Thus the decay of Nigeria did not begin to show until around the late '70s. At this time, this ruling class had also gotten a taste of 'bigmanism'. This is essentially, the art of lording it over the common man (and their employer) and they had begun to practice it to a level that most common men were beginning to believe the lie that the political ruling class were entitled to be called and viewed as such.

When IBB became Nigeria's head, he firmly entrenched corruption by making dignity of labor and doing right unattractive. All this while, this political ruling class were romancing the idea of regaining access to the source of what was now common knowledge to be Nigeria's OIL wealth. None of either the military or this ruling class noticed the goose was on its last legs and was in danger of expiring. They told themselves it was fatigue and fed the goose multivitamins while coaxing one more egg, just one more, from it. At the same time, they ignored every other form of Nigerian wealth. They involved work which oil wealth didnt! The goose started to die in instalments and every single one of them feigned ignorance and tried to show indignation at an appaling state of affairs while peering down into the nation's agbada if they could get some more coins to scrounge.

With monies stolen from her people, they became lords over them and at every opportunity convened something or the other to deliberate over how to fix the problem, a problem they created. Needless to say, nothing worked. Enter Aunty Ngor with a CV many of these upstarts would have liked to have and are busy coaxing their brainless children who are well schooled in one thing only (politricks aka bigmanism) to try and get in order to rubber stamp their perpetuation agenda. She waddles in and begins to speak economics at a level never before heard of by a NIGERIAN/FEMALE. No one can deny her brilliance except you are Nigerian and have a heart that beats by pumping blood. Then, you will see how self serving and opportunistic she really is.

To understand what went down with fuel subsidy removal in Nigeria, just look at the persona of NO-I(arrogance of knowledge she claims to have but lacks in reality), and SLS(an over inflated sense of self and intelligence brought on by an upbringing of priviledge{?} gained by raping Nigeria). Take the time to factor in GEJ(deprived, poor self-image masquerading as humility,hen-pecked, 'lucky' PhD) becos he truly is involved. The result? A bad, highly ineffective attempt at ending an over half decade long tradition of corruption by the wrong sort. What's that saying again? He who comes to equity must come with clean hands?
