STEREOTYPES

Caveat-This is a work of fiction. Any similarities to persons living or dead is coincidental. Read at your own peril.

The black(?) person living in a white(?) country- perhaps perceived as retarded, unable to navigate the best phone plan, unable to find a decent place to have a meal or the best shops in which to find the bargains or use the coupons that are available. Usually synonymous with a lack of ability. But even that is a stereotype.

The accomplished female scholar-must have done something other than study to become so accomplished, there cant be enough brain matter to warrant such excellence from 'her', she can only know about this stuff if she learnt them horizontally. That is also stereotypical.

The mother who thinks she's a babe-it must mean she wants something more than she has, all that effort cant be for nothing, she cant just love life and be very happy about herself, in isolation, she must be reaching for more than what is available at home. Stereotypically incorrect.

The female who dares to do the exclusively male thing- how can she even make it seem like women approach the awesomeness of men? Has she never heard that females have fewer ribs than males?

Unfortunately, my trend bucking is to buck every trend that is known. I will not be a gentle person to satisfy you, only if I want to be and then, I will be raucous when you least expect for no other reason than that you now believe me to be gentle. Its best you get adjusted, I am not here to satisfy any of your preconceived notions about being black (I aint!), female scholar, uber sexy mum-babe, or a sheman. My issue is with your narrow understanding of another person rooted in your ignorant belief that you have seen it all, cos you havent and no! the extent of the world isnt what you know.

Admitting that stereotyping is wrong is your first and primal need, then maybe I will help you broaden your horizons, release the bounds of your imagination, take you on the ride of your life and make you open your eyes to a whole new world, Aladdin style!

PS-Nigerians do not read directions! That is not stereotypical, its fact!
